Now you have copies of your transcripts as well as your military transcripts. It’s time to pick a degree.
I can’t offer much help here. You have to decide what you want to do. Do you want a desk job, a degree in law enforcement do you want to teach, do you like computers, etc. Check out our Degree Profiles for help.
Picking a School
This is one of the most important steps that you’re going to take. There are a lot of things to consider when attending a school. There are different types of schools, and accreditation. You have to consider your learning style. Are you a self paced learner, or do you learn better with structure. Some schools have military scholarships, some don’t, there are so many different options, and your perfect school is out there. Military Friendly Schools
You have your degree plan in hand, if you haven’t already done so, you have to register for a GoarmyEd/Earmyu username and password. Click on this GoArmyed
Click on “New Users Tab”
Enter Social Sec. Number & DOB
Your information should populate.
Your username and password will be emailed to your AKO account.
You now have a school, a degree plan, you are registered with GoarmyEd/Earmyu, and you are ready to request tuition assistance. You should have an official start date from your school. (If you don’t, contact your school and request a start date) you’ll need it
Log on to GoarmyEd/Earmyu using your username and password.
Click on “My Virtual Education Center”
Click on “Enroll Withdraw/Drop Course”
Complete the “Common Application”
(It should pop up) you also have to write a short essay about why you want your education.
Verify Information and Continue
Click on “Self Service”
Under “Enrollment” click on “Enrollment Add Classes”
Select Term Date & Click Class Search
Select School from Drop Down Menu
In the “Select Subject” enter subject E.g. (ECON 101 enter “ECON” )
In the “Catalog Number” enter number E.g. (ECON 101 enter “101”)
Click “Search”
Find your class start date in the right corner
Click On the Check mark in the left corner
Click On “Proceed to step 2 of 3”
Click “Process Enrollment”
To add another class repeat process.
Contact Your School
Congratulations you’ve successfully requested tuition assistance for your course(s). Contact your school and let them know that you’ve completed the Tuition Assistance Request
