CLEP Testing is an excellent way to maximize your transfer of credits, while minimizing the amount of courses you are required to take at a given online university. Take a look at the available CLEP tests to see how they can help you.
Here’s a five step process for taking & transferring CLEP exams:
Step 1: Choose a school that accepts CLEP testing.
All Schools listed on armed-ed.com accept CLEP Testing in applicable programs. Military Friendly Schools
Step 2: Choose a degree at your chosen school, and have that school evaluate all your transcripts. (military transcripts & previous college work if applicable)
Once you have this accomplished, the school will give you the results of the credit evaluation.
Step 3: Ask your school the maximum amount of transfer credits that can be accepted, into your degree field.
It’s always best to get a copy of the schools catalog, so you can find that information in writing, a lot of the time you can download it from their website.
Step 4: Ask your school if they have a CLEP equivalency list
This equivalency list will let you know what CLEP tests correspond to the courses at that particular school. This will make things easy for you, by giving you an idea of what CLEP exams can be transferred to which classes.
Step 5: Isolate the classes that are eligible for CLEP
Now that’s done you just have to match the courses you still have to take (listed on your credit evaluation results) to the available CLEP exams. Take as many of the CLEP as you can.
