Armed-ed.com has developed a checklist for the deployed Military Online Student. You can still take classes online, even if you’re deployed. Before you do make sure that this applies to you:
Deployment
If you know that you will be deployed in the near future, plan your classes and the school that you attend around your deployment. If at all possible, try not to be enrolled into a class just prior to deployment.
Success Tip
During your deployment, you may or may not have the necessary time to successfully resume your studies online. It’s always best to wait until you know what your schedule will look like while on deployment. You wouldn’t want to paint yourself in the corner, and not be able to finish a class while on deployment.
Reliable Computer and Internet Access
Ok, you’re deployed you know your schedule and you have the necessary time to resume your studies. Before you continue, make absolute certain that you have access to a reliable computer and internet access.
Success Tip
During deployment it’s vital to have a reliable computer, and reliable internet access. While you’re enrolled in a class, not having internet access can cost you major problems. Especially if you have to log in to check your assignments.
Quiet Work Place
Now that you have the necessary time, a reliable computer, and internet access, the last piece to the puzzle is to establish a quiet work place.
Success Tip
Having a quiet work/study place is essential to your success. Give yourself at least 45 minutes to an hour per day in this quiet place, for your studies.
